Functional Capacity Partners provides independent functional capacity assessments and structured functional evidence reports for people with disability.

What is a Functional Capacity Assessment?

A Functional Capacity Assessment examines how a person’s disability affects their ability to perform everyday tasks such as personal care, domestic activities, mobility, communication and community participation.

The purpose of the assessment is to determine both the participant’s capacity to perform activities and whether those activities can be safely and consistently sustained over time.

This analysis assists with identifying the level of support required for the participant to maintain independence and safe participation in daily life.

What methodology is used during assessments?

All assessments conducted by Functional Capacity Partners utilise structured methodologies designed to ensure reporting is clinically robust and evidence based.

Assessment processes may include:

  • Structured clinical interview

  • Functional observation

  • Standardised assessment batteries

  • ICF aligned functional analysis

  • Risk and observation matrix analysis

  • Review of relevant medical or allied health documentation

Assessment batteries may include tools used to examine disability impact, daily living capacity, psychosocial functioning and support needs where relevant to the participant’s presentation.

These approaches assist with producing structured functional evidence that clearly documents how disability impacts everyday functioning and the level of support required.

What is ICF Mapping?

Functional Capacity Partners maps assessment findings to the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF).
