Functional Capacity Partners provides independent functional capacity assessments and structured functional evidence reporting for NDIS participants. The service focuses on clearly documenting how disability impacts a person’s ability to perform everyday activities and participate in daily life.

Functional capacity assessments examine how a participant manages areas such as self-care, domestic activities, communication, mobility, social participation and decision-making.

The assessment process explores not only whether a person may be able to perform a task, but whether they can perform and sustain that activity safely and consistently over time. This distinction between capacity and sustainability of function is central to understanding the level of support required for a participant to maintain independence and community participation.

Assessments incorporate structured functional analysis methods including International Classification of Functioning (ICF) mapping, functional observation, risk matrix analysis and, where appropriate, recognised assessment batteries. These approaches assist with documenting the practical impact of disability on everyday functioning and identifying areas where support may be required.

Functional evidence reports are commonly requested when structured documentation is needed to support NDIS decision-making. Assessments may be used to assist with NDIS access applications, plan reviews, change of circumstances requests and matters before the Administrative Review Tribunal.

Functional Capacity Partners provides telehealth assessments Australia-wide, enabling participants and referrers to access independent functional evidence reporting regardless of location. The goal of each assessment is to provide clear, structured and clinically grounded evidence that accurately describes a participant’s functional capacity and the support required to sustain everyday functioning.

Functional Capacity Partners provides independent functional capacity assessments and structured functional evidence reports for people with disability. Our assessments examine how disability impacts a participant’s ability to perform everyday activities and participate in daily life.

Assessments focus on both capacity and sustainability of function, examining not only whether a participant may be capable of performing an activity, but whether that activity can be performed safely, consistently and maintained over time without significant risk.

All assessments incorporate structured functional analysis and may include ICF mapping, functional observation, standardised assessment batteries and risk matrix analysis.

These approaches assist with clearly documenting the practical impact of disability on everyday functioning and identifying the level of support required.
Telehealth assessments are available Australia-wide.

What We Do

Circumstance Specific Functional Evidence reports provide targeted functional analysis when structured evidence is required to support a specific request or decision.

These assessments examine how disability impacts the participant’s functional capacity in relation to the issue being considered. The goal is to provide clear documentation of functional limitations, participation barriers and support requirements relevant to the circumstances being examined.

This type of report may be suitable for situations where a full comprehensive functional capacity assessment is not required but clear functional evidence is needed to support decision-making.

Circumstance Specific Functional Evidence may be used for:

NDIS access applications

Change of circumstances requests

Plan review evidence

Administrative Review Tribunal matters

Targeted support justification

Assessments may incorporate structured clinical interviews, functional observation and recognised assessment batteries where appropriate. Findings are analysed using ICF mapping to clearly demonstrate how disability impacts daily functioning and participation.

Risk and observation matrices may also be used to identify factors affecting a participant’s ability to perform and sustain everyday activities safely over time.

Comprehensive Functional Capacity Assessments provide a detailed analysis of a participant’s functional capacity across multiple areas of everyday life.

These assessments examine the participant’s ability to perform activities required for independent living and community participation.

Comprehensive Functional Capacity Assessments are commonly requested for:

NDIS plan reviews
Support needs analysis
Complex functional presentations
Support justification
Tribunal matters
Housing or support accommodation considerations

Functional Capacity Partners is a specialist multidisciplinary assessment service providing independent functional capacity assessments and structured functional evidence reporting for people with disability.

Our assessment team brings together Occupational Therapists, Social Workers and MDT Specialists who work collaboratively to produce clinically robust functional analysis that clearly documents how disability impacts a person’s ability to perform and sustain everyday activities. By combining perspectives across multiple disciplines, our assessments provide a comprehensive and balanced understanding of a participant’s functional capacity, support needs and participation barriers.

The focus of every assessment is to examine not only whether a participant may be capable of performing an activity in isolated circumstances, but whether that activity can be performed safely, consistently and sustainably over time. This distinction between capacity and sustainability of function is central to determining the level of support required to maintain independence, safety and meaningful participation in everyday life.

Functional Capacity Partners utilises recognised assessment frameworks and structured methodologies to ensure reporting is evidence-based and clinically defensible. Assessments may incorporate standardised assessment batteries used to examine disability impact, daily living capacity, psychosocial functioning and support needs. These tools assist with documenting functional limitations in a structured and measurable manner.

Assessment findings are analysed through a functional lens using the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). Mapping functional findings to the ICF allows our reports to clearly describe the relationship between health conditions, body functions, activity limitations, participation restrictions and environmental influences. This framework provides a comprehensive model for understanding how disability affects everyday functioning.

About Us

“Assessments may include structured clinical interviews, functional observation, standardised assessment tools and ICF-aligned functional analysis to produce clear, evidence-based reports that help the NDIA understand the functional impact of disability.”

About Us

“Assessments may include structured clinical interviews, functional observation, standardised assessment tools and ICF-aligned functional analysis to produce clear, evidence-based reports that help the NDIA understand the functional impact of disability.”

In addition to standardised assessment tools, our assessments incorporate structured clinical interviews, detailed functional observation and comprehensive risk and observation matrix analysis. These approaches allow clinicians to identify barriers that may affect a participant’s ability to safely perform activities over time, including risks associated with mobility, cognition, decision-making, social functioning and community access.

The integration of multidisciplinary clinical perspectives, structured assessment batteries, ICF mapping and functional observation allows Functional Capacity Partners to produce reports that are both clinically rigorous and clearly aligned with functional evidence requirements.
Our goal is to ensure that every report clearly defines functional capacity and support requirements in a way that assists decision-making and promotes outcomes that improve participant safety, independence and overall quality of life.

Telehealth assessments are available Australia-wide, allowing participants, support coordinators and advocates to access independent functional evidence reporting regardless of location.
